WATCH DOCS nominations at the 56th Krakow Film Festival

The 56th edition of Poland's oldest documentary festival, kicks off on May 29. This year, it is already for the eleventh time that we are announcing WATCH DOCS nominations for the most intriguing human rights documentaries included in the Krakow Film Festival program, thereby inviting them to the competition of the WATCH DOCS. Human Rights in Film IFF (December 9-15). This year, we have nominated two films.

"Curumim" (dir. Marcos Prado) is a fascinating portrait of Brazilian Marco Archer, who was arrested in Jakarta for smuggling 13 kilograms of heroin. This young paraglider, surfer and king of life spent 11 years on a death row in an Indonesian prison unaware of the date of his execution. For a couple of years, he filmed his daily life in prison with a hidden camera.
"Icon" (dir. Wojciech Kasperski), on the other hand, is a discreet and at the same time insightful observation of the daily lives of patients of a psychiatric hospital in the Siberian countryside. The place, which was inaccessible for film crews, can now be shown thanks to the residents, some of whom spent there several decades.
