Monday at Watch Docs

Debate on the situation at the Polish-Belarusian border and the first Q&A with Jean-Gabriel Périot. Check out Monday at the WATCH DOCS Human Rights in Film festival!

"In this game, each border is another level,” writes Zuzanna Połynko about the film "Shadow Game", which documents a dangerous journey to Europe for a better future, made by children and teenagers from regions torn apart by war. After the screening of this film, today at 6 p.m. at Kinoteka, we invite you to the debate:

Our final frontier - will Poles agree that migrants have the right to life?

Debate participants:

Kalina Czwarnóg - Fundacja Ocalenie

Anna Dąbrowska - Homo Faber, Grupa Granica

Lydia Gall - Human Rights Watch

Marta Górczyńska – Helsinki Founation for Human Rights, Grupa Granica

Kenneth Roth - Human Rights Watch (Executive Director)

Katarzyna Wappa - a resident of the border zone

and

Katarzyna Błażejewska-Stuhr and Maciej Stuhr

Journalist Katarzyna Kolenda Zaleska will moderate the discussion.

Also today, you can enjoy the first of the meetings with Jean-Gabriel Périot, French experimental filmmaker, winner of this year's Marek Nowicki Prize.

Jean-Gabriel Périot digs through hours of archival materials, from which he creates unique collage films. Editorial sensitivity, philosophical insight with a perceptive eye make his film installations engaging stories about history, the present day, politics and society. Periot's films uniquely combine attachment to traditional film with an avant-garde approach to form. Periot has developed his own editing style and, as he emphasizes in interviews, it is the editing that determines the final tone of his stories.

The meeting with Jean-Gabriel Périot will take place after the screening of his movie "A German Youth" at 6:00 p.m. at Kinoteka.

The Marek Nowicki Prize is awarded by the Board of the Helsinki Foundation for Human Rights for outstanding achievements in showing human rights in film.

We would like to remind you that film screenings take place in Kinoteka and Kino Muranów and on the Internet on the MOJEeKINO.PL platform. We invite you to purchase single tickets for screenings and multi-screening passes.

See you at the movies!
