WATCH DOCS nominations at Krakow Film Festival

The 65th Krakow Film Festival – the oldest and most prestigious documentary and animation festival in Poland – began on Sunday. As every year, we nominate what we consider the most interesting documentaries from KFF, which will have their Warsaw premiere in December during WATCH DOCS.

From the competition lineup at the festival in Krakow, we selected three titles this year.

“9 Month Contract” directed by Ketevan Vashagashvili is a story told with great tact and sensitivity about a mother for whom surrogacy has become a way of life.

“Silver” directed by Natalia Koniarz is an exceptionally vivid and visually stunning documentary drama about the dark secret of Cerro Rico in Bolivia – for centuries the world’s largest silver mine.

“Child of Dust” directed by Weronika Mliczewska follows the dramatic journey of a man born in Vietnam as a child of war – his father was an American soldier and his mother a Vietnamese – as he tries to reclaim his identity.

We are rooting for these filmmakers – all the nominated films we selected were directed by women – and for their success in the festival competitions.

The 65th Krakow Film Festival runs until June 1st, and the 25th WATCH DOCS International Film Festival will take place this year from December 5th to 14th.
